Software Licensed by the Science Library: Access and Download

The Robin Li and Melissa Ma Science Library has purchased campus-wide site licenses for several products. Access to all of these products is limited to current Stanford students, faculty, and staff.

Product Agreement and Download Instructions

Access to Mnova software is limited to current students, faculty, and staff at Stanford.

Mnova software is available on the cluster computers located in libraries, dorms, and the academic virtual desktop.

We have a campus-wide site license to MNova software that includes some of their plugins (see list). Mnova is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux Systems (see technical specifications below). The license agreement is renewed in April and new license keys should be requested. The NMR, MS, NMRP, Verify, and DB client plugins are integrated into Mnova so they don't need to be installed separately.

Step 1:  Please send a request for license keys to the Science Library using your @Stanford email address.

Save the software license keys on your computer.

Step 2:  Download Mnova from the publisher's website and install the program. Open the software and, when prompted, install the license keys.

  Download Mnova - Mestrelab

Note: to activate the software in Step 2, you must be on campus or connected via VPN. Please also note that the software "checks-in" with the license key server every 90 days. If your license key is not being recognized, try connecting to the campus network using VPN to see if this fixes the problem. If the problem still persists, please contact Science Library.

Help:  How to install and uninstall MnovaMestreNova Manual

System Requirements

Windows:  The minimum system requirements for a Mnova installation are the ones needed to run Windows 7 or higher. (XP is not supported anymore since Mnova v.10.0.2). The default installation requires about 1.1 GB of disk space. If you are going to install (or uninstall) the program on a Windows system, be sure you have administrator privileges, because the installation procedure is going to install several files in your system folders. If you don't have such privileges, please use the correct link on the download page.

Mac:  Mnova requires at least Mac OS X 10.13 or higher.

Linux:  Mnova requires at least Pentium 1 GHz, 1 GB RAM, Video Adapter Super VGA (800 x 600) with X Library (Xlib). Please, make sure to choose the correct setup file for your Operating System (Debian, OpenSUSE, Fedora, Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise...)
