Treasure maps

Introduction

There's been some confusion, so we would like to firmly state that there are no secret pirate treasure maps in our collection. In an effort to further debunk the rumors, we are providing the FAQ below.

FAQ

Is there buried treasure on the Stanford campus?

We can neither confirm nor deny the existence of pirate treasure buried under the X Line of the Marguerite Shuttle.

Why are you paying the map library staff in gold doubloons?

Doubloons are a trending archaeocurrency. While the Terman Engineering Library may pay its staff in Bitcoin, the map libraries feel more comfortable with the security features of doubloons.

Why is the head of the map libraries a Captain?

Better to sail with a moody good captain than a laughing bad one.*

Come again?

We be needing an old salt if we to sail this seadog into the briney deep.

Is this some kind of joke?

What do ye call the person who makes pirate treasure maps?

I don’t know.

A cARRRtographer, mate.
