PWR 1MG: Numbers, Metrics, and Counting: The Rhetoric of Quantitative Thinking: Getting reference assistance

This guide is here to introduce PWR1 students in Mark Gardiner's class on useful library resources.

How to get general reference assistance

  • Green Library's Reference Desk can be reached at library-reference@stanford.edu
  • The Library Chat is located at the bottom right corner of the Ask Us page.
  • To request the library purchase a book, use the Suggest a purchase form.
  • To get help with connecting to resources, use the Report a connection problem form.

Contact your subject librarian!

There are lots of things about your research that you can ask a librarian. Just as an example from me, I have helped Stanford students and faculty find things like information about earthquake legal notices in New Zealand, locate patents for video games and mechanical technologies, getting access to restricted technical reports from NASA... and a lot more!

In addition to the Reference Desk, you can also feel free to contact librarian subject specialists directly. Many of the relevant subject librarians for this class are listed below. In addition, you might also be interested in resources from our Social Science Data and Software group.
