More than one hundred contributors participated, including photographers Richard Avedon, Nick Knight, Mario Sorrenti; filmmakers Larry Clark, and Sofia Coppola; gallerist Sadie Coles; music-video director Hype Williams; artist Sarah Lucas; and models Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bundchen, and Claudia Schiffer. - Visionaire. 49, DecadesPublished in 2006. "49 Decades encapsulates twelve decades of style to coincide with the 120th anniversary of renowned Japanese department store Isetan. Ultimately, twelve portfolios by twelve fashion photographers and illustrators summed up the faces, fashions, and trends that made every decade from the 1880s to the 2000s. David Sims shot an ode to '50s rockabilly; Steven Meisel compiled his most unforgettable images from the '80s into one blockbuster collage; and in dedication to the '70s, Mats Gustafson chose the 1890s to realize a vision of Belle Époque fashion in his signature elegant watercolors"--Publisher's description.
