Communities at Stanford

There is a rich history of digital humanities (though it may have gone by a variety of names) at Stanford since at least the late 1980s. DH activity and resources are spread across campus; here are a few communities and resources of note:

  • Programming Historian publishes peer-reviewed and beginner-friendly tutorials for humanists looking to build new digital research and teaching skills. Tutorials are also available in Spanish, French, and Portuguese
  • The Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) is a long-running digital scholarship training institute held each summer at the University of Victoria, offering a wide range of course topics
  • Dream Lab, organized by the Price Lab for Digital Humanities and the Penn Libraries, is another week-long DH training institute with several courses to choose from
  • HILT (Humanities Intensive Learning and Teaching) is a 5-day DH training institute that also includes keynotes and ignite talks. It rotates across different host institutions
